Enrique was accepted in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology PhD program at UTEP in spring 2019. He is interested in the conservation and restoration of desert aquatic ecosystems for the preservation of their ecosystem services and ensure the long-term care of biodiversity and human well-being. He is working on understanding the desert wetlands functioning, structure, and composition in the U.S. Southwest and the carbon flux in these ecosystems.
